Sacraments of Christian Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist
An adult receives Baptism through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, commonly called OCIA.
After completing the OCIA process, an adult receives all three Sacraments of Christian Initiation at the Easter Vigil liturgy on Holy Saturday.
The Sacraments of Christian Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist—lay the foundations of every Christian life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life.

What are the goals of OCIA Adapted for Children?
From the time of the apostles, becoming a Christian has been accomplished by a journey and initiation in several stages. This journey can be covered rapidly or slowly, but certain essential elements will always have to be present: proclamation of the Word, acceptance of the Gospel entailing conversion, profession of faith, Baptism itself, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and admission to Eucharistic communion.

What is OCIA?
OCIA is a journey of conversion, formation, prayer, and discernment. It offers time to learn about Catholic tradition and teaching, discuss how Jesus has worked in one’s life, and come to know Christ more personally through the Catholic community.
Who is OCIA intended for?
- A person who has never been baptized and wishes to learn more about the Catholic Church, with the possibility of becoming Catholic
- A person baptized in another Christian tradition who desires full communion with the Catholic Church
- A baptized Catholic who wishes to complete the Sacraments of Christian Initiation through Confirmation and/or Holy Eucharist
- A returning Catholic who has been away from the Church and desires reconciliation and a renewed sacramental life

When will I be baptized?
After faithfully attending the OCIA process and attending Mass each Sunday, participants receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist—at the Easter Vigil liturgy on Holy Saturday.
