Parish Nurse Ministry
Support the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our parish community.
The Parish Nurse Program is designed to foster physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Its purpose is to help parishioners recognize the gift of life God has given us and connect them with resources that nurture and maintain that gift.
This ministry serves as a resource on health matters in the following ways:
- Provide blood pressure screenings after each Mass on the second Sunday of each month
- Answer questions and address concerns individuals may have about their physical well-being
- Provide health and medication education and counseling, physician and health-care referrals, and visits to the homebound
- Present preventive health programs concerning frequently occurring health problems
The overall goal is to link two healing communities that complement one another: health-care agencies and the parish. The Parish Nurse Program is part of a wider national effort to make these services available. It is not intended to provide clinical nursing care, but to provide education, referrals, and support within the parish.
To help this ministry develop, the parish needs people who currently work in health care or have retired from the field and are willing to share their talents and expertise. Nursing experience is required, and volunteers may offer as much time as their schedules allow.
