Supporting the prayer of the parish

Each ministry contributes to a reverent, prayerful, and welcoming celebration of the Holy Mass.
Proclaiming Scripture

Readers

Readers are parishioners whose love of Scripture is reflected in their clear and prayerful proclamation of the Word of God.

Purpose

Enhance the worship life and communal celebration of Mass by proclaiming the written Word.

Preparation

Study, reflect upon, and prayerfully prepare the assigned readings.

Expectations

Arrive fully prepared, dress appropriately, and show reverence for the written Word.

Qualifications

Be fully initiated through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist; if married, be in a valid marriage; and be willing to serve as scheduled.

Formation

In-house training, a ministry handbook, regular schedules, and updates from the ministry coordinator are provided.

Preparing the Sanctuary

Sacristans

Men and women prepare the altar and sacred vessels for daily Mass, weekend Masses, funerals, and special liturgies.

Sacristans should possess a deep love for the Mass, reverence for the sacred vessels, and good organizational skills.

Training is required.

The parish office can explain current needs and formation.

A Ministry of Welcome

Ushers & Greeters

Ushers and greeters serve the parish community before, during, and after Mass.

They create a warm, friendly, and hospitable atmosphere rooted in reverence for Christ’s presence. They also offer special assistance when needed, answer questions, guide the Communion procession, and collect the offerings.

The ministry is open to men, women, families, and teens who are ready to serve the parish family. Ministers should arrive at least fifteen minutes before Mass, and training is provided.
