Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are commissioned by the bishop through the pastor to distribute the Eucharist at weekend and daily Masses and special liturgies. Pastor consent for this ministry is necessary. He/She must be a practicing Catholic 21 years of age or older and registered parishioner in good standing with the Church. They should be persons who sincerely try to live the Gospel message in their communal and individual lives. No experience is necessary. Training is required.
If you would like to share in this Ministry, please contact the Parish Office at (352)796-2096 to schedule an appointment with Father Pecchie.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are also commissioned by the Pastor to take Holy Communion to those members of the parish who are unable to celebrate Sunday Mass with us, those who are homebound, in nursing homes and in the hospital. The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for the Homebound are living witnesses that the community of faith has not forgotten the absent sick, the invisible elderly, and the unseen sufferers. Their presence draws them into conscious communion with the whole Body of Christ so that they may experience that as “a community of disciples” no one is alone.
